This is a large 1:200 scale military airplane model from Herpa Wings of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft in the colors of the 37th Airlift SQD, at Ramstein Air Base.  There are over a thousand C-130s in operation, having celebrated their 50th production anniversary some years ago and very likely to celebrate their 60th. That’s because of its ingenious layout. The squat-looking Hercules doesn’t only lift a payload of a good 20 tons into the air, it is also operated in the most wide-ranging roles, from a reconnaissance platform to even a ground-attack aircraft. Lockheed holds an ace in its Hercules, that will continue to soldier on for a long time.
